Healthcare Consumers Turn to YouTube

Ogilvy PR reported a few days ago that Google statistics confirm 79% of health consumers have watched videos about their specific health condition on YouTube

Do you call the doctor every time you have a pain, get hurt or have some type of health issue? Us either.  Consumers, even those dealing with their own health and well-being, don’t want to wade through paragraphs of content. JUST SHOW ME WHAT I NEED TO KNOW.

  1. We’re adding more video to our website showing key surgeons speaking in their own words about procedures and other relevant information. Didn’t think of moving these videos to YouTube as a secondary outreach source–thanks.

Oftentimes, patients diagnosed with serious illnesses will wage a research effort online only to be more distressed when they encounter inaccurate information from anonymous sources citing unregulated medications or procedures. Offering this information in video form will continue to reinforce this problem.
